Hasbro officially opens Wizards of the Coast Studios in Montréal

Why this matters: our read

I read this as a digital-games headcount story first: the release names new Dungeons & Dragons content and a growing digital portfolio, and gives no title, date or budget. For the tabletop trade, the useful facts are square footage, the 200-by-2028 plan, and that the Montréal digital presence started with the 2019 Tuque acquisition later operating as Invoke.

Hasbro announced on October 8, 2026 that its new Montréal studio, Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc., is now formally open in a downtown office. Employees, partners, media and local officials attended an opening event.

Hasbro says the studio will build new Dungeons & Dragons content and support the digital side of Wizards of the Coast’s business. At 35,518 square feet, it is planned to reach about 200 employees by 2028, and the company expects the opening to add hundreds of jobs to the city’s games sector. The announcement names no game title, release date or budget — so for tabletop retailers and RPG publishers, the operator-usable facts are headcount destination and square footage, not a shipping slate.

This studio will grow to be the largest concentration of video game talent at Hasbro

Dan Ayoub, Senior Vice President, Head of Dungeons & Dragons and Head of Wizards of the Coast Canada, Hasbro

The company’s Montréal digital presence is older than this ribbon-cutting. On October 29, 2019, Wizards of the Coast said it had acquired Montréal’s Tuque Games, then more than 55 full-time employees and already working on a Dungeons & Dragons digital title. In October 2022, Wizards launched that team under the Invoke Studios name, still in Montréal’s Saint-Henri district and still described as developing a AAA Dungeons & Dragons-inspired game. Hasbro’s 2026 opening release frames the new hub as building on that 2019 acquisition line. Montréal International and Investissement Québec International backed the project.

Dan Ayoub, who leads Dungeons & Dragons and Wizards of the Coast Canada, said the studio is meant to become Hasbro’s biggest concentration of video game talent. Until a title and date appear, that remains a studio-capacity claim, not a product calendar.
